Day 47 of 365 - Silence

I walk by this alarm panel at work several times a day. With the rain the last few days and the kids not able to go outside, it made me wonder if I can add one of these to the kids!

Day 46 of 365 - Night Light

Day 46, completing yesterday was a major milestone. They say after 30 days something becomes a habit. So yesterday marked 45 days of my project. I still have a long way to go. I enjoy and welcome encouragement, comments, and ideas for photos. I still have not run out of ideas yet, but love hearing ideas from everyone that is following me. Today's photograph is the light given off by a night light. I picked this night light up a few weeks ago needing a night light and looking for something different. This night light projects an abstract pattern on the wall and changes color. I have wanted to photograph the patter for a while now and tonight grabbed it and setup for a photograph.

Day 44 of 365 - Filament

I had a few extra light bulbs laying around and seen some shots of burning filaments from light bulbs before. The hard part is breaking the bulb around the filament without damaging it. I had four bulbs and broke the filament on the first one. So I was able to use three of them. It was fun to do and I will have to try this again.

Day 41 of 365 - Sweet Nectar

As a paramedic, I work 24 hour shifts. Though we are allowed to rest, sometimes it gets busy and you don't have the luxury of resting. So sometimes you need a little caffeine to get you through. I am not a big soda drinker, so coffee is the answer. I do require copious amounts of sugar and cream though. Therefore tonight's photo is of the coffee pot at the station.

Day 40 of 365 - Laundry

Catching up on laundry today, I had some towels and sheets on the clothes line. Very few people line dry their clothes any more. So being nostalgic, I did a toned black and white.

I also used my Lens Baby Composer with a 12mm fisheye optic.

I went out shooting today with Al Popp, a family member from Wisconsin. We headed to Tycoon Lake. This is a cleat on the boat launch. Getting a low angle provided a unique perspective on the cleat and its surroundings.

I will post more from today soon.

Day 31 of 365 - Puzzled

31 Days, 1 month!

Tonight looking around for something to photograph I was puzzled what to grab. I have a collection of small wooden and metal puzzles on the shelf so I grabbed one of those. I setup for the photograph thinking about the month that has past.

Day 30 of 365 - Glow

I am late in posting this because I was at camp with cub scouts and there was no internet. So last night one of the scouts brought a bunch of glow sticks. I had the boys go in a dark room, setup the camera for a 30 second exposure and we did a few shots. This was the one I liked the best. Completely random.

Day 29 of 365 - End Table

This end table sits in our front room by one of our couches. The light is on timer and is one every night. The book has been sitting there for a year. I added the iced tea and candle to round out the photograph.

I see the light of this lamp on the wall and table every evening. I recently bought a new lamp shade and it changed the light. The old shade was round and the new shade is square. The light was new and intriguing.

By the way I will be camping with the Cub Scouts tomorrow. I will make a picture but will not be able to post till Sunday morning.

Day 28 of 365 - Arrival of Fall

Mornings are cool and crisp, days are warm, life is changing. Over the weekend I began getting the garden ready for winter. I usually leave the dead sunflowers standing over winter for the birds. This year the groundhogs got the best of my sunflowers. This was the only survivor. It grew 7 feet tall this summer and has a head full of seed for the birds. Tonight as the seasons are changing once again, I thought of this sunflower. So poised against an early fall sky, this solitary sunflower prepares for its winter duties.

Day 27 of 365 - DVD Player

If you have known me for any amount of time, you know I love to take things apart. Getting them back together is another problem! Extra parts anyone? The DVD player has not been working right so tonight I decided to take it apart to see if I could see what was wrong. I cleaned the lens over the laser thinking that would fix it. I was wrong. So I am in the market for a new DVD Player. If you have never seen it, here is the read head portion of a DVD player.

Day 26 of 365 - Sensor

The most important part of any digital camera is the sensor. It gathers the light and converts it to digital data. This sensor is from a Kodak digital camera. a higher end one, that was damaged beyond repair. The actual sensor is around 1/4" in size.

Day 23 of 365 - Hiding in Plain Sight

I was walking around the station this evening trying to find a subject for my photo. I was looking at another amazing sunset, when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. After looking closely I noticed this camouflaged praying mantis. I grabbed the camera and a light for a quick photograph.

Day 22 of 365 - Hypnotic Clouds

This evening I had a major change of plans. I had bought a pineapple for tonight's shot. When I went to out to get something I could not resist the hypnotic clouds. I just goes to show you have to ready to abandon an idea for a better one anytime. So maybe the pineapple will get its glory day later this weekend.

Day 21 of 365 - Foggy Morning

Yesterday out on a run we passed this overlook. It instantly caught my eye for way the farm was framed out by the landscape. This morning I knew it would be foggy and hoped the fog would just be barely lying in the valley. After work the fog was burning off fast and I thought I would have to try another day. When I arrived the fog was perfect. I stopped composed a few different compositions and this is the one I loved.

By the way I am posting early today because I am leaving for Columbus and the Ohio State Marshall Game.

Day 20 of 365 - Communication

Looking around the station today for something to photograph I saw this portable radio. Communication is vital to us. It provides s with information about our run, our dispatchers are able to direct us to the call, and they are are link to safety if things should go bad. We use several radio systems so we can communicate with several agencies.
