This weekend is the Federal Army Homecoming. During the Civil War, Union Army soldiers were camped in the Gallipolis City Park. Every April Reenactors camp out in the park to demonstrate Civil War life. On Saturday evenings they have an artillery drill. This evening I took the boys down to watch and see about getting a few photographs of the canon firing.
Here are a few more pictures of the canon firing.
Also the camp at the Gallipolis City Park.

Day 257 of 365 - Bamboo Forest
A few years ago I bought this six inch pot with eight inch tall bamboo. I planted it not knowing what would happen. Three years later the spring growth for this year is about half an inch in diameter and so far 4 feet tall. The original six inches in diameter pot is now a over eight feet around. The shoots this year extended over 25 feet away from the center of the plant. So I guess I have my own Bamboo Forest.

Day 251 of 365 - The Greens of Spring
Spring changes the browns and grays of winter into vivid colors. Watching the colors of spring come in is almost like watching the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy arrives in Oz and the black and white film becomes color. The brilliant greens of this field reminded my of that today. As the greens take over I am looking forward to many warm months of spring and summer.

Day 245 of 365 - Number 2 Pencil
Remembering the day of the good old Number 2 Pencil and the Scantron sheet. It seemed you always needed a few pencils because it never failed that the lead would break just as you got started on the test. Now it seems so many tests are computer based that the days of the Number 2 Pencil may be limited.

Day 244 of 365 - Evening Off
This Linkbelt crane had the evening off at the County Engineers office. I was walking around close to the station this evening enjoying the warm weather when the crane was sitting in among the piles of rocks. It was waiting for the next days work while the evening sun cast the last bit of light.

Day 235 of 365 - Refreshing
I saw this Coke bottle at the store the other day and had to grab it. There is nothing like curves of a glass bottle. They are so much more refined than the plastic bottles. I am not much of a pop drinker so the bottle will probably sit around for a while. Who knows it may appear in another shot later on.

Day 231 of 365 - Loosing Focus
This project is getting more difficult as the days pass. With 134 days left I am waiting for warmer and better weather to get outside to photograph. I think I have photographed about every thing in the house and at the station. It is becoming more challenging everyday to find something that catches my eye to photograph.
