Day 141 of 365 - The Final Minutes of 2010

2010 is coming to an end. Another year has passed and tonight we reflect on the year past and the year ahead. Here is to a Blessed and Happy 2011!

Day 140 of 365 - Monkey's Fist

I enjoy tying knots and have tried this knot several times. So with much practice I finally got this knot. So tonight I photographed it and one of my knot books.

Day 139 of 365 - The Most Annoying Toy

Trevor got Bop It! for Christmas. This has to be the most annoying toy in the world. Mainly because I suck at at it. It also is loud, since it has the shout it option. So glad the kids could go outside today or it would have been Smash It!

Day 138 of 365 - Wii-Mote

With the cold winter days Trevor and Isaac have been playing a lot of Wii. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow so the Wii will get a break and bikes will be back in the line up.

Day 137 of 365 - Jacket Weather

Another shift at work and the sky cleared late in the afternoon. Clear skies in winter mean a cold night to be out in the field. I guess it is jacket weather.

Day 136 of 365 - Isaac's iPod

Isaac is so proud of his iPod. He has wanted an iPod for some time know and he got one on Christmas. He also got a dock for it with an alarm clock. Now maybe he will get up on school days. I wonder how to get him to sleep in on his days off? Maybe there is an app for that.

Day 135 of 365 - 573 Pieces

What happens when a 10 year old gets a Lego set with 573 pieces? He puts it together by himself in about and hour. Trevor got Lego Slave I for Christmas. It took him about an hour with very little help to put this together. So much for me having to assemble all the Christmas toys.

Day 134 of 365 - The Nativity

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."

Day 133 of 365 - Sleigh Bell

I found this old bell in the closet. It reminded me this evening of Polar Express and the bell at the end. With Christmas Eve tomorrow I hope everyone has the Christmas Spirit.

Day 132 of 365 - Skye

Skye is our 12 year old Sheltie. She is very opinionated and grouchy for a dog. Basically if she does not want to do it, she puts up a fight. She got her Christmas bath today. After that she would not come near me. So when I decided to photograph her today I was surprised how well she cooperated.

Day 129 of 365 - All Hung by the Chimney With Care

This evening seeing the stockings hanging by the chimney reminded me of the poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas". Seeing the mantle with the Christmas cards from family and friends made me thankful for all those in my life.

In the cold winter icicles are found hanging off roofs every where. These are hanging off our station and are about 2 feet long.

Glass ornaments decorate many trees. These decorations are so delicate and simple. What would a Christmas tree be without them?

Hollee came over tonight for some Christmas pictures. We had a great time and made some images for her and her family to enjoy this Christmas.

Be sure to have plenty of tissues on hand. We are well into sneezin' season. Be sure to wash your hands and cover your mouth when you sneeze.

Day 124 of 365 - Isaac 6 Years Later

Six years ago today Isaac had surgery to correct craniosynostosis. His metopic and sagital sutures had closed early preventing that part of his skull from growing, putting pressure on his brain. So at 18 months of age he underwent 6 hours of cranial facial surgery. We were blessed with two outstanding doctors and the wonderful staff at Nationwide Children's Hospital. It is a blessing that other than his scar, he has no ill effects from surgery. Though I think the added some extra orneriness.

Day 123 of 365 - Ants in the Pants

Steph says I am on a game thing. I was looking for something fun to photograph tonight. So what is more fun than ants in the pants. So after jumping several ants I finally got one mid air heading right into the pants.

Day 122 of 365 - Ears to Hear

My stethoscope is something I don't want to be at work without. Without it I would not be able to hear the sounds I need. Whether taking a blood pressure or listening to lung sounds it is one tool I would not want to be without.

Trevor had this out playing with it recently and as I was thinking of something to photograph tonight. This came to mind. It is a fun game of skill and becomes very loud at times. Of course Isaac thinks the goal is to knock it down.

Day 120 of 365 - Tickling the Ivory

There are many times I wish I had learned to play the piano. I can read music thanks to 8 years in band but I never leaned the piano. I can sit down and peck out a tune with one finger but that is about it.

Day 118 of 365 - Frozen

It has been below freezing for the last several days. I took a walk down over the hill to the creek behind the house this morning for a few picture. I am actually going to share 3 photos today. The first is a small piece of ice suspended above the flowing water.



The second is another piece of suspended ice but it really struck me because of the leaves frozen in the water.



The final picture is of a minnow frozen in the ice. In a way I felt sorry for the little guy. After seeing it stuck there I could not resist photographing it. The shine on the dark background just stood out.

Day 116 of 365 - Clean Hands

Cold weather is here and with it cold and flu season. The best thing you can do the prevent the spread of the flu is to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.

I can always remember having a train under the tree. It is a Christmas tradition. The boys have been running the train the last few days. They are just like we used to be running the train as fast as they can until it comes off the track.

With all the bustle of the holiday season, sometimes it all seems to go by in a blur. Take time to slow down this year. Enjoy family, friends and the moment. Above all else remember why the real reason for the Christmas. The birth of Jesus!

Day 112 of 365 - Home Movies

I was up in the attic today getting down the rest of the decorations when I found the old home movies and projectors. The movies were filmed by my grandfather and date from the late 1950's to the early 1980's. I set up a small piece of white seamless and this evening I watched a few of the old movies.

Though we have had snow flurries, today we had the first dusting of snow. It looked great on the pine shrubs outside with a few Christmas lights on.

Day 110 of 365 - Jaws of Life

Gallia County EMS is one of the few EMS systems that still does extrication. Most areas the fire department does the rescue. As the weather gets worse drive safely. I really hate using these.

In EMS and Fire we live by the pager. It goes off, we go. Wherever. Whenever. For some reason the days between Thanksgiving and Christmas seem to be busier than normal. Making you want to throw the pager out the window.

With HD video and now 3D video recorders, I often look at my grandfather's wind up 8mm movie camera. State of the art at the time. No batteries required. Just wind the key.

100 days complete! It has taken the right combination to get to this point. It has taken dedication to keep up with this project. It has taken the help of my family to keep me going and supporting. I have enjoyed this project, O have learned a lot about myself, my creativity, and how to push my abilities. I am looking forward to the remaining 265 days

The story goes that Mickey Mouse was going on a journey and Minnie Mouse made him a bear to take with him on his travels. Mickey named him Duffy. So this is Duffy Bear, Disney's newest character and cuddly friend.

Day 93 of 365 - All Star Music

Our choice of hotels for this trip was Disney's All Star Music. It has a quiet atmosphere for a Disney Hotel and plenty of activities for the boys. This was from our last morning at Disney as we were preparing to head back to Ohio.
