Day 321 of 365 - Toad Stool

I was out hiking today with Isaac and the dogs and with the wet weather the area was full of mushrooms. This red specimen had sprung up along the trail so I stopped by for a photograph.

Day 320 of 365 - Scorpius

Back in the winter I photographed the constellation Orion. In mythology Orion was killed by a scorpion and now Scorpius chases Orion through the night sky. Scorpius is easy to spot in the southern summer sky y locating its heart, the red super giant Antares.

Day 319 of 365 - Moths

Even with the wet weather this year it has not slowed the insects down. I was unable to come up with a clear identification of this moth but it was fun to photograph.

Day 318 of 365 - Upgrades

When I got my Macbook Pro a few weeks ago I knew I wanted to upgrade the memory as soon as possible. So in anticipation of the memory arriving I had an old Hard drive laying around and photographed the control circuitry on the back.

Day 315 of 365 - More Beans

I am trying a new variety of beans in a small plot close to the house. They are an heirloom variety and hoping the produce well this summer. So far for only being planted from seed a week ago they are doing very well.

After serving Gallipolis for 95 years the old Gallia Academy High School building is coming down. Only a small portion remains for the crews to demolish in the morning.

With all the storms the last few days the clouds have been amazing. Tonight after more storms it was no exception. As the sun set after the storms it poured amazing light on the clouds.

I have always seen and enjoyed photos of dewdrops with a refracted image in them. I have tried these shot before without any luck. So this morning was a dewy morning and I went out to try again with better success.

Day 311 of 365 - Craftsmanship

The craftsmanship of my Great Grandfather's pocket watch never ceases to amaze me. The amount of work and detail that went into decorating the inside of the watch where no one would ever see it unless they removed the cover. At 91 years old it still keeps time, when I remember to wind it!

The skies were swirling and stormy today as storms rolled in. The clouds were simply amazing. Rolling and boiling before the storms.

Day 309 of 365 - River Traffic

Barges are constantly moving up and down the river. This afternoon wasn't good for recreational boating but the barges were still moving up and down the river as storms moved through.

I was out in the yard this evening with playing with Rooney. Luckily he stopped long enough for a quick photograph.

Day 307 of 365 - Vulnerable

I came across this baby mouse today. It was a less than an inch long. The mother and the other babies were no where to be found. In a way it is sad but being this small and vulnerable without a mother it has no chance to survive.

Day 304 of 365 - Blown Away

I use my rocket blower on a regular basis to clean my camera and lenses. It came in handy a few days ago to remove a dust spot on my sensor before a shoot.

Day 306 of 365 - Zucchini

I grow a pretty large vegetable garden every summer and one of the favorites is the Zucchini. Whether it is sliced and grilled, fried or Zucchini bread, we eat a bunch of Zucchini.

A few weeks ago I planted my green beans. They are growing quite well and should be blooming soon. I am really looking forward to fresh green beans.

Day 303 of 365 - Evening at the Edge of Woods

This evening we were out at Mom's for Sunday Dinner and I was trying to photograph the hummingbirds at the feeder but did not bring my telephoto lens. So after trying a few times I turned around to see the sun setting into the edge of the woods.

This morning before we left the beach, I was up to get a few last sunrise photos. I never get tired of the sunrise. After a great trip I am glad to be home.

Today I photographed my first wedding. I could not of asked for a better couple, or a better location. This is Meghan on the dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at Nags Head, North Carolina.

Low tide at the Outer Banks brings out a treasure trove of shells. Strolling along the beach at low tide you can find more shells than you can imagine.

This evening I finished location scouting for a wedding I am photographing on the Outer Banks Friday. We also wanted to do some family photos while we were here. This is in front of Bodie Island Lighthouse.

If you know Isaac, you know he loves cars and trucks. A few months ago we went to Monster Jam to see the monster trucks. Grave Digger is based just outside of the Outer Banks and he wanted to go see the shop.

This morning I got up early to catch the sunrise. As always the I was not disappointed. There is nothing better to see the Glory of God than to see a sunrise.

After a rainy morning, this afternoon we headed over the dunes to the beach for a few hours. After playing in the Atlantic surf for a few hours we headed back to the house for a relaxing evening.

Day 294 of 365 - Kodak Vigilant Junior

Another of my Grandfather's old cameras is this Kodak Vigilant Junior. It is an old folding camera with 4 aperture settings and 3 shutter speeds. The first speed the shutter only stay open for a brief time when you click the shutter. The other setting is a Bulb setting, and the final setting you click once to open the shutter and again to close it. No meter, no aperture priority, no flash, and no chimping!

Many of the homes on Court Street in Gallipolis date to the Civil War. The street with its brick sidewalks made for the a great photograph this evening just after sunset.

Day 292 of 365 - Sparks Flying

After sunset this evening I headed out back of the station to give this a shot a try. I photographs with this technique before and wanted to give it a try. I was pleased with the result and hope you like it. I look forward to trying this again in the future.
